Trying Some Apple mint

Tea time! Trying out a very unique type of mint; Apple Mint! This was sourced from an herb store in New Hampshire that got it directly from a small farm down the road. Shoutout to Misty Meadows farm!!

I love using Peppermint and Spearmint in my herbal tea blends, and mint in general is one of my favorite flavors ... so when I stumbled on this Apple Mint straight from the farm I couldn't help myself and bought a whole jar. It's lighter than Peppermint or Spearmint, with a milder grassy note, and sweet apple finish.

It looks like Apple Juice after it brews too. So I'd say Apple Mint is a perfect name for this. Scientifically known as "Mentha suaveolens", I thought this made for a very enjoyable, light, herbal tea to have at anytime of day. I like to brew it at 200 degrees (f) for about 5 minutes. In this example I used 2.2 grams for one ~8oz cup of tea.

It was a huge treat to get an herb fresh like this directly from a farm. It made a huge difference in the freshness of the tea, and my enjoyment :)

I added some Hawthorn Wildflower honey at the end, and wow, this made it PERFECT. It was the lightest, most delicately floral honey I had on hand, and the pairing with the sweet fruitiness of the apple mint was delightful.
